Enzo Maresca will have been as frustrated as Chelsea fans after the Blues were unable to put their flying start to good use against Manchester City at the weekend.
Chelsea were defeated 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium, despite Noni Madueke putting them in the lead within the first three minutes.
Maresca’s inexperience showed as they failed to target Abdukodir Khusanov after his nightmare start to life in the Premier League, and their opponents quickly took over as the better side.
Scoring first and not leaving with three points has unfortunately become a bit of a regular theme for the Blues as of late, with guilt-edge chances going begging.

John Obi Mikel says Enzo Maresca can learn from Jose Mourinho as Chelsea manager
Former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel has been left frustrated at the results of late that have seen them drop out of the top four.
The club legend spoke on the Obi One podcast about his time playing under Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, stating he would not have allowed them to drop points from winning positions.
Mikel said: “We could be 1-0 or 2-0 up in the first half and we’d all go into the dressing room happy. ‘We’re on fire, we’re winning, we’re doing well’. Then you’d go in and see him upset.
“He would rip into the team: ‘No, you have to kill the f***ing game. I know we’re up but if they score one, we’re back in the s***. You have to make sure you go out there and kill the game’.
“That’s what’s going on right now with the current team. We have so many chances, we’re winning games 1-0. We don’t kill the game and then they get an equaliser and we might lose the game or draw. I think that’s something we need to start doing.”

Maresca wants new signings in last week of January
Because of the vast drop in form, it looks as if Chelsea are going to need reinforcements in order to confirm they qualify for the Champions League for next season.
Maresca reportedly still wants more players through the door before Monday’s January transfer deadline, with a striker at the top of his list of priorities.
The Blues have been linked again with the signing of Jhon Duran, and could push for a move as Aston Villa explore signing both Axel Disasi and Joao Felix.
