As far as Premier League centre-backs go, there are few who can even compete with one Chelsea legend.

John Terry won near enough everything that was on offer while a player at Stamford Bridge, and was nearly always the man lifting the trophies as club captain.

Wayne Rooney named Terry as his toughest ever opponent when the pair were playing, and the Blues have been looking pretty much ever since his departure for a dominant defender to take his place.

It has been reported that Chelsea are looking to sign the ‘next’ Van Dijk by looking at a number of young Dutch defenders in recent windows.

Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana the starting centre-backs at Chelsea

The current backline at Stamford Bridge seems to be in the early stages of being formed, with Enzo Maresca looking as if he has found his desired centre-back pairing.

Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana have started all three Premier League games alongside each other, with the Frenchman hopefully getting past the horrible injury that saw him ruled out for the entirety of last season.

While both are young and clearly still learning to become their best, there is plenty of promise that they can become a dominant duo at the back for years to come.
