Chelsea’s first team suffered more misery in the Premier League on Saturday, however one of their out-of-favour loanees enjoyed a stellar cameo off the bench.

The Blues took the lead against Brighton at Stamford Bridge, but capitulated in the second half as a result of Trevoh Chalobah’s red card early in the second half.

The atmosphere was toxic in West London as Chelsea fans begAn to turn on Enzo Maresca, who is under significant pressure to deliver a result in the Champions League against Jose Mourinho’s Benfica.

It remains to be seen whether the boss will make changes to his squad, with injuries to the likes of Cole Palmer and Liam Delap giving him less options in attack.

Chelsea loanee scores twice in two minutes after Blues defeat to Brighton

As he struggles with what he has got to work with, a number of Chelsea loanees continue to prove their worth, including forgotten man David Datro Fofana.

The striker made a loan move to Turkish Super Lig side Fatih Karagumruk, and scored in his debut off the bench in a losing effort.

He was called upon again when they were being beaten by Trabzonspor, and even though they fell to a 4-3 defeat, Fofana did his best to save his side a point.

The striker scored twice in two minutes in added time, seeing him reach a total of three goals in just 46 minutes since his move.

Chelsea’s stance on Fofana

Fofana made some brief appearances for Chelsea during Graham Potter’s reign in charge of the club, however it has been more than two years since he made an appearance for his parent club.

This means that Maresca is yet to utilise the striker in his time in charge, although it doesn’t look as if that is set to change.

It was reported over the summer that Maresca had sanctioned Fofana’s exit, however the club were not able to find a new permanent home for the 22-year-old.

The signing will go down as one of the stranger ones in the Todd Boehly era of the club, however it is good to see him finding his feet as a goalscorer again.
