Chelsea had a decision to make when it came to signing a new midfielder during the recently closed January transfer window.
The Blues eventually decided on deadline day to complete a deal to sign Mathis Amougou, however the plan is for him to be loaned out at the end of this campaign.
It is likely that he moves to Strasbourg, where he will be taking the place of Andrey Santos, who is currently on loan there from the Blues.

Chelsea made the decision not to recall the Brazilian from Ligue 1, with them not wanting to get in the way of his development.
Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior thinks Santos has an ‘outstanding’ future, and this is a feeling that is echoed by those at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea see Andrey Santos as a key player for Enzo Maresca
It has already been claimed that they see Santos as a member of the first team squad next season, however now have a plan in mind that involves manager Enzo Maresca.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea believe Santos can be a crucial player for the current boss when he returns from his loan.
He said: “Chelsea have already started planning next season with Andrey Santos as one of the key players for Maresca.
“Club very happy with his development at Strasbourg as Andrey will be part of the team from June.”
Chelsea will certainly need to make assurances to the central midfielder when he returns, with a number of big clubs eyeing up the situation surrounding him.
Bayern Munich were mentioned as potential suitors for Santos during the January transfer window, with clubs like Barcelona also monitoring his performances.

How is Andrey Santos getting on at Strasbourg?
After spending the second half of last season with the BlueCo side, the Brazil international has gone from strength to strength in this campaign.
Something that has been notable is how he has found his goalscoring touch from midfield, contributing seven goals in 19 league games.
| Andrey Santos Ligue 1 stats | Total |
| Games | 19 |
| Goals | 7 |
| Chances created | 17 |
| Tackles won | 47 |
| Duels won | 139 |
| Yellow cards | 4 |
The Blues have been lacking goals of late when the opposition have managed to stop Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson, and have needed other positions to step up.
Goals have not been free-flowing from the midfielders in the last couple of seasons, and if Santos can bring that to Stamford Bridge he will soon be a key player for Maresca.
