Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez has delivered an injury update today on social media.

Enzo Fernandez started during Chelsea’s memorable 4-1 win away to Tottenham on Monday night, which earned them a much-needed three points in the Premier League. Cole Palmer scored from the penalty spot yet again, while Nicolas Jackson fired in a hat-trick.

However, Fernandez was substituted off early into the second-half. Football London noted that the 22-year-old midfielder left the field with an injury.

Next, the Blues host Manchester City on Sunday afternoon in the final game before November’s international break.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side should be able to breathe a little easier after the Spurs result, so there should be excitement going into a tough contest now against the league leaders.

Chelsea boost

Fernandez has reassured worried supporters with Tuesday’s message about his fitness.

He certainly seems to suggest that there’s no injury problem and he should be fine to play at home to Man City at the weekend.

Fernandez wrote on his Instagram story: “Thank you for all your messages. I am good, working in my recovery to get to the weekend in the best way.”

Enzo Fernandez striving for his best

We didn’t think Fernandez was anywhere near his fluent best against Spurs, so you can understand why there’s concern about an injury problem.

This midfield trio of him, Moises Caicedo and Conor Gallagher is still very much a work in progress. It’s looked fantastic in patches between the combination, but there’s still some gelling to be done as a unit.

Speaking during an interview on the Premier League: The Big Interview programme last week, Caicedo named Fernandez as one of the world’s very best midfielders right now.

We’re going to be greedy and want much more from Fernandez because we know how good he can be!

It does finally feel like Pochettino’s side is taking shape with key players emerging such a Fernandez, Palmer and Raheem Sterling.
