Reports have claimed that Chelsea are now monitoring a manager who they have considered for the job before.

According to The Guardian, the Blues are considering hiring Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim if they are forced to make a change at the top in the coming weeks or months.

The club currently have Mauricio Pochettino in charge of proceedings, however he is hardly setting the world alight in admittedly difficult conditions.

He has been heavily impacted by the injury situation at Stamford Bridge this season, with a number of key stars being heavily affected.

The likes of Christopher Nkunku, Reece James and Romeo Lavia have hardly been available to the Argentine during his first season at the club.

However, this excuse is seemingly not sliding with everyone right now. It has been claimed that there is a divide amongst the senior staff over what is best to do with Pochettino right now.

For those who are convinced his time should be up in West London, they have already started doing due diligence on a number of other candidates who could replace him.

It has now been claimed that one of those is Amorim, with their appreciation for him has gone back a decent amount of time.

The report went on to say that some at Chelsea really considered hiring him back in 2023, when the permanent job was up for grabs off the back of Graham Potter’s sacking.

They decided to go down the route of Pochettino at the time, however they may at this stage be regretting that decision.

Amorim has had some serious success over in Portugal, although this is only going to make him more difficult to acquire in the summer off the back of interest from other sides who may be looking for a new man in charge.
