Chelsea ‘more likely’ to sign Morgan Rogers’ Aston Villa teammate than him, ‘keep an eye’

Chelsea have this week been linked with the possible signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa after his excellent campaign at the top end of the Premier League.

The Blues are always going to be aware of the best players in England, and with eight goals and assists in the league so far this season, the Englishman has estbalished himself as just that.

Rogers is a big fan of Maresca, and Chelsea have the chance to appease Unai Emery with a swap deal that could include Joao Felix, a player he is a big fan of.

However, Villa do not want to sell Rogers, and Chelsea are likely to have to look elsewhere when it comes to strengthening their attack.

They have actually previously been interested in one of his teammates, Jacob Ramsey, with him also breaking through as a regular in Emery’s side.

Transfer insider Graeme Bailey has exclusively told The Chelsea Chronicle that Ramsey is probably a more likely signing for Chelsea if they are looking to do some shopping at Villa Park this summer.

He said: “The interesting one at Villa, and it’s someone who Chelsea have looked at and like a lot if Jacob Ramsey. Obviously, we know they like Jamie Gittens, he’s probably first choice, but Jacob Ramsey, keep an eye on him as well. Chelsea like him.

“I think he goes under the radar a bit, I think he’s an absolutely outstanding talent, and he’s possibly more likely, but Villa are insisting PSR wise they’re not as bad as they were.”

At 23 years of age, Ramsey has a number of seasons under his belt at the top level now, and would not require any time to adapt to Premier League football.

While the numbers are not as impressive on paper, Ramsey has remained an important part of the Villa side this season.

His appearances this season have also included plenty of minutes in the Champions League, a competition Chelsea are absolutely desperate to return to next season via the Premier League.

They will need to finish in the top five to do this, which will likely include finishing above Villa in the table.
