Chelsea are very excited about a number of young prospects who they have signed to join up with the first team squad in the near future.

One of those there is plenty of excitement over is Kendry Paez, signed for a fee of £17m and set to join up with the squad at the end of this campaign.

The teenager has already established himself as a regular in the Ecuador national team, starting games alongside Moises Caicedo at the recent Copa America.

Kendry Paez outclassed by Chelsea’s Deivid Washington in international clash

He has broken a number of South American records set by the likes of Lionel Messi already in his career, and now he is looking for glory with his nation as part of the Under 20 side at the South American Championships.

Last night he was taking on current Chelsea star Deivid Washington and his Brazil side, and even though Paez found the net in the final few minutes, the story of the game was about the striker on the opposite side.

Washington found the net twice in the first half with two quality headers, as Brazil held on for a 3-2 win the group stages.

Brazil sit third now in the five-team group, with Ecuador in fourth after only one win in their first three games.

Deivid Washington not wanted by Chelsea

Despite still technically being a member of the Chelsea squad, it seems only a matter of time before Washington’s move away from the club is made permanent.

It has been reported that terms are agreed for Washington to join Neymar as a Santos player, after struggling to make any impact at Stamford Bridge.

Despite making a handful of appearances during Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure, he is yet to feature for the first team since Enzo Maresca took over as manager.

The Blues invested a healthy amount of money into the addition of Washington, although this signing will feel as if it was a bit of a waste of time for the Blues.
