It does not look like Chelsea’s owners have been too impressed with a couple of their players this season.
Journalist Simon Phillips recently claimed on Substack that they feel that Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez have underperformed.
However, according to Phillips, there is a belief in the players that they have signed and confidence that the two South Americans will eventually raise their level and help elevate Chelsea as a result.
After the Blues spent huge money to bring Caicedo and Fernandez in, they have really been under the microscope this season.
Rangers legend Ally McCoist was really disappointed after watching the two in Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez underperforming
Caicedo and Fernandez have done a poor job lately. Two midfielders of their quality should not be getting outdone by the likes of Scott McTominay and Sofyan Amrabat, yet that is exactly what happened at Old Trafford.
For the money that they paid, Chelsea should really be getting more out of Caicedo and Fernandez.
It is still early days, though, especially for the former, while both players are still quite young. As the campaign goes on, they should get much better.
However, as things stand, you obviously cannot say they have repaid the money spent on them.
Mauricio Pochettino‘s side take on Sheffield United, who are bottom of the Premier League table, at home next. If Caicedo and Fernandez struggle in the game, then serious questions will need be asked and perhaps of the manager.
If Pochettino cannot get two midfielders of their class to perform against a team who look destined for the Championship, then the Argentine is going to show his critics that he may just not be good enough for the Chelsea job, which in his defence, looks like an impossible one right now.
