Chelsea will be facing familiar opposition on Wednesday as they take on Newcastle United for the second time in four days.

This time the two sides will meet in the Carabao Cup, a competition the Blues are looking to go one better in than the defeat they suffered in the final last year.

Enzo Maresca will no doubt ring the changes again, with there being one eye on the trip to Old Trafford that awaits them in the Premier League next weekend.

The Chelsea Chronicle have predicted the side who will start at St. James’ Park on Wednesday night.

Chelsea predicted XI vs Newcastle in Carabao Cup

Uncertainty continues to surround Robert Sanchez whenever he is on the ball, and Wednesday will be another chance for the Blues to get a look at Filip Jorgensen between the sticks.

After both recognised right-backs started against Newcastle in the league, it will be Axel Disasi named in this position for the Carabao Cup.

Tosin Adarabioyo will return to the starting side in place of Wesley Fofana, whose minutes are still being managed as he gets used to regular football again.

Next to him will be Benoit Badiashile, who is enjoying a strong run of form as he looks to save his Chelsea career.

Marc Cucurella was a surprise omission at the weekend, however he will feature again this time around.

After Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo have established the starting birth in the Premier League, there will be another chance for Enzo Fernandez to prove his worth again.

He will be partnered by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who is still yet to be handed a Premier League start for the Blues.

On the right of attack, it will be Jadon Sancho back in the side, no doubt keen to regain his place that was taken by Pedro Neto at the weekend.

The opposite wing will be occupied by Mykhailo Mudryk. The Ukraine international has a strong overall record against Newcastle.

Joao Felix will look to continue his strong run when he does start, getting the nod in the Number 10 role ahead of Cole Palmer.

Up front, Christopher Nkunku will try and find the net again after an excellent beginning to the season in front of goal.
