Chelsea youngster could now leave permanently this month, he’s been on the bench 16 times this season

Reports have claimed that one Chelsea youngster could now leave the club permanently during this January transfer window.

According to the Evening Standard, goalkeeper Lucas Bergstrom has been made available for a loan, however a permanent exit has not been ruled out by the club at this stage.

Due to real injury problems in the squad this season, the 21-year-old has been around the first team squad more than he will have perhaps expected this season.

Mauricio Pochettino has frequently named two goalkeepers on the bench to actually fill the squad out, and this has seen Bergstrom in the matchday squad as many as 16 times this season.

This is despite the Blues being active in the transfer market last summer for a goalkeeper, signing two who have been competing for first team minutes.

Robert Sanchez had dominated the role in the early stages of the season, however his injury has seen Djordje Petrovic handed a great chance to impress which he has taken with both hands up to now.

Bergstrom could be sold

This has seen the youngsters who are waiting in the wings to have not been handed a chance this season, and potentially open the door to an exit from the club.

It has now been claimed that Bergstrom could be surplus to requirements for the future, with him being considered for both a temporary and permanent move.

The Blues have not left goalkeeper out of their positions that they have looked across the world to fulfil for the years to come.

One of their first additions after Todd Boehly took over the club was Gabriel Slonina, who has been kept busy on loan this season after impressing during the pre-season tour of the United States.

There is still a lot of hope regarding his future at Stamford Bridge, and it will surely not be long before he is integrated into the squad.
