Cole Palmer has started his second season as a Chelsea player in the similar kind of form that helped him become a household name last year.
Chelsea have assembled a talented young squad of players in recent years, but the standout signing is the capture of Cole Palmer from Manchester City in the summer of 2023. So far, the left-footed attacker has been outstanding at Stamford Bridge.
If there were fears that the 22-year-old playmaker would stumble in his second season, they’ve quickly disappeared. He’s already scored six goals and made five assists in seven Premier League games.
Speaking via The Guardian this week, Marc Cucuruella waxed lyrical about “special” Blues teammate Palmer.

Cole Palmer ties Eden Hazard achievement
It was confirmed via the Premier League’s X account on Friday morning that Chelsea star Palmer is the Premier League Player of the Month for September.
| Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 4 | 5 | 1 |
Chelsea collected 10 points from their four league matches in September, so it’s great to see one of their stars recognised for the monthly individual prize.
Palmer has now won the division’s Player of the Month award for the second time in his career, with the first back in April 2024 for a strong end to last season.
Interestingly, retired Chelsea legend Eden Hazard also won two Player of the Month awards in his successful Premier League career. It’s worth adding that the Belgian attacker also won the Premier League Player of the Season back in the 2014/15 campaign.
It’s a sign of Palmer’s greatness nowadays that he’s tied a Hazard achievement.
Chelsea need Cole Palmer for this challenging run
When Chelsea return after the international break, they’ve got a difficult set of league fixtures ahead of them. The Blues are fourth in the division table right now after a solid start, but can they now consolidate that?
