Chelsea are under the spotlight right now with UEFA after breaching their financial rules.
The Chelsea owners have plenty of work to do off the pitch because they’re in a bit of trouble with the European governing body.
It’s been reported on Saturday that Chelsea have breached UEFA’s limits on financial losses for last season. There’s an explanation that Chelsea’s £200m income from selling their women’s team to a sister company doesn’t count with UEFA guidelines.
As a result, the Blues are now in discussions over a settlement.
Fans will wait and see what the club’s ownership do to patch up the mess. The senior chiefs that receive the most scrutiny are Behdad Eghbali, the co-founder of Clearlake Capital, the company that owns a majority stake in Chelsea. Also, Blues co-owner Todd Boehly is a well-known figure in the public.

Chelsea’s discussions with UEFA are positive
Ben Jacobs has now added to the breaking news around Chelsea’s UEFA punishment with his version of events.
The Journalist has reported via X that the sale of the Blues women’s team can’t be declared to balance the books with UEFA. It’s a different story when it comes to the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, though.
Apparently, talks are ongoing between Chelsea and UEFA over a “likely” settlement or fine. The good news is that discussions between them are deemed “positive” in this moment.
As long as there are no restrictions put on Chelsea that impact the team moving forward, supporters shouldn’t have too much to worry about.
As it stands, the focus of fans is to see if the team can quality for next season’s Champions League. Interestingly, Chelsea’s owners back head coach Enzo Maresca because they believe he’s got the potential to develop into one of the world’s elite managers.

Joe Cole’s message to the Chelsea owners
There has certainly been a lot of scrutiny fired at the Chelsea ownership from all angles since they completed a takeover of the club in May 2022.
In particular, the club’s recruitment policy has been one of the most controversial areas in recent years, prioritising the signings of so many young stars for the future.
Back in February, former Blues star Joe Cole urged Chelsea to sign more experience to help their young group of players.
He said: “I’ve said it from the very start of this ownership you have to have experienced players… This whole idea of these young players getting there, well they might be, but I tell you what they’d be there a hell or a lot quicker and Chelsea would be getting more points and be higher in the table if they would just put some experience around them.”
Once Chelsea fix this ongoing issue with UEFA, we’d love to see them adapt a smarter approach in the upcoming summer transfer window.
