After a promising start to life as Chelsea manager, things are not going too well for Enzo Maresca at the moment.

Under him, Chelsea recently dropped out of the top four, while the Blues were also knocked out of the FA Cup last month by Brighton & Hove Albion.

Chelsea players are not giving up on Maresca, though, while it also looks like the club’s owners and directors have a lot of faith in him.

The Italian has had to deal with a lot of injuries of late, while his side are still in fifth. Come the end of the season, that could be enough for Champions League football.

Chelsea owners think Enzo Maresca is going straight to the very top

Some Chelsea fans may have doubts about Maresca right now. Some even called for Frank Lampard to replace Maresca after the Blues’ bad run of form.

Co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali still think very highly of him it seems, though, and the same goes for the players at the club.

Fabrizio Romano revealed in a recent column for GiveMeSport that Chelsea’s owners, directors and playing staff all believe that Maresca can become “one of the very best” managers in the industry.

At the start of the season, the Chelsea head coach was proving that he already was. He had the Blues going toe-to-toe with Liverpool and Arsenal at the top of the table.

Had his side beaten Everton in December, they actually would have gone first for a period of time. It shows how well Chelsea were doing.

Of course, since then, they have tailed off massively under Maresca. Yet rival clubs have been speaking well of Maresca and Chelsea as a whole despite their recent blip.

What Chelsea owners said after Enzo Maresca appointment

Chelsea lured Maresca away from Leicester City after just one season at the King Power Stadium, and they were extremely happy with their capture.

Upon his arrival, the club’s ownership group told Chelsea’s official website: “We are thrilled to welcome Enzo into the Chelsea family. We look forward to supporting him and the rest of the sporting team in fulfilling their potential and our expectations over the years to come.

“He is a highly gifted coach and leader that we are confident can help fulfil our vision and competitive goals for the Club.”

In the game right now, Maresca probably is one of the most gifted coaches. Hopefully he can live up to the hype at Stamford Bridge.
