Chelsea are continuing to push to get their transfer business done before the window even opens as they have reportedly agreed another addition.

The Blues have agreed a deal to sign midfielder Dario Essugo from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of around £18m.

The news comes just days after the high-profile signing of Geovany Quenda was announced, with there real excitement over his future at the top level of the game.

Chelsea were close to signing Essugo back in January, with them acting late on deadline day in an attempt to get a permanent signing over the line.

However, they instead opted to sign Mathis Amougou, who has made his debut for his new club but is expected to leave on loan at the end of this season.

There is also the hugely exciting future of Andrey Santos for Blues fans to look forward to. The current plan is Santos will be in the first team next season after two loan spells at Strasbourg.

It looks as if it is a similar plan for Essugo, who is all set for a move to Stamford Bridge when the season comes to an end, where he will remain a member of Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Fabrizio Romano said: “Dario Essugo to Chelsea, here we go! Agreement done with Sporting and medical completed. €22m transfer fee for 20 year old midfielder to join Chelsea THIS summer and be part of the first team.

“Essugo will sign a 7 year deal. Quenda joins in 2026 for €48m fee.”

Chelsea will be very well stocked for quality in midfield following the addition of the youngster. As well as Santos, they will have Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo all vying for starting places.

The Blues were not the only side who were keen on signing Essugo, with Manchester United mentioned as a possible suitor due to manager Ruben Amorim’s links to his old club.

Despite Amorim being a fan of Essugo, it is Chelsea who have got the deal done and supporters will get the opportunity to see him as soon as next season.
