It came as a bit of a surprise when it was announced that Marc Cucurella had left Chelsea, although the Blues are happy with their latest transfer business.
Before Cucurella had played his part in Spain’s first World Cup game, it had been confirmed that he had finalised a move to Real Madrid.
The left-back was reportedly convinced following talks with Jose Mourinho, and reportedly didn’t go without Xabi Alonso being informed.
CHELSEA’S FIXTURES ARE ANNOUNCED!
Chelsea happy with Marc Cucurella sale
It was originally reported when the new manager was announced that he wanted to keep Cucurella, although it appears there was an acceptance that his time had come to an end.
In fact, Kieran Gill has reported that Chelsea are actually pleased with the fee they have received for the player, citing the presence of Jorrel Hato and incoming Valentin Barco as reasons why they are content.

He told the Mail Online: “Chelsea are pleased with the overall outcome of Cucurella’s £51.8m exit given, we are told, the Spaniard had let them know he was interested in returning to his homeland for family reasons.
“Jorrel Hato’s development last season was a contributing factor in sanctioning the sale, and Valentin Barco is in line to arrive from Strasbourg.”
Obviously, Cucurella featured in the majority of games for Chelsea last season, and it will be a tough ask for Hato to reach those levels after just one season at the club.

Chelsea considering Lewis Hall return
Despite confidence in Hato, there are still reports linking Chelsea with a new left-back since Cucurella’s departure.
There have been claims that the Blues are interested in bringing Lewis Hall back to the club, after letting him leave to join Newcastle United.
The England international is being linked with an exit this summer, although Chelsea have a relationship to mend following the circumstances around his exit.
As far as Premier League proven players though, there are few better in that position than Hall right now, and he should be seen as one of the priority signings this summer.
