Christopher Nkunku uploaded a message to Chelsea fans on social media after making his debut for the club last night.

Christotpher Nkunku, who was injured during pre-season back in the summer, finally got to make his competitive debut for Chelsea this week.

The 26-year-old attacker came off the bench during a high pressured match at home to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

Fortunately, Mauricio Pochettino’s side ended up winning a dramatic penalty shootout at Stamford Bridge to reach the semis.

The Blues remain in the hunt for silverware this campaign despite their poor Premier League form. It’s either Middlesbrough, Fulham, Liverpool or West Ham in the cup semi-finals.

Message to Chelsea fans

Speaking for the first time since Tuesday night’s debut, Nkunku uploaded a message on social media directed to the Chelsea fanbase.

Nkunku wrote on Instagram: “The best way to meet you guys for the first time at the Bridge. Thanks for the warm welcome. Can’t wait for more.”

Christopher Nkunku debut

Nkunku couldn’t make too much of an impact during his small cameo off the bench, but that did change when he confidently smashed in his penalty during the shootout.

Speaking via Sky Sports’ televised coverage of Chelsea vs Newcastle, Jamie Redknapp admitted that Nkunku failed to really make much of an impact during the 90 minutes. Let’s remember these were his first competitive minutes of the season, as well as first in English football.

His return to fitness is going to bring a whole new dynamic to the forward options.

The competition for places in the attacking spots should heat up with the likes of Nkunku, Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk, Cole Palmer, Armando Broja and Nicolas Jackson in contention.

Let’s hope the rest of Nkunku’s teammates get the same kind of buzz to his return as a very excited bunch of supporters.
