BBC pundit Garth Crooks has launched a scathing attack on Todd Boehly after his decision to hire Graham Potter turned out to be a failure.
He claimed that the American should have instead looked to hire Unai Emery, currently occupying his trade at Aston Villa.
Boehly gave plenty of backing to the former Brighton man, both in the transfer market and in terms of time to turn around poor results.

However, it didn’t look like it was coming soon, and the Blues dropping into the bottom half of the table was the moment he pulled the trigger.
Potter’s final game in charge was ironically against Emery, losing 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Crooks has claimed hiring a manager with experience winning things in Europe will have far better suited what he was trying to do at Stamford Bridge.
Crooks slams decision to hire Potter
He said: “The truth be told Potter should never have been given the job in the first place, while his perseverance with Marc Cucurella at left-back merely shone a searchlight on Potter’s managerial shortcomings.“
Meanwhile, Villa manager Unai Emery has won European titles and has the pedigree to manage a dressing room full of international stars. A feature owner Todd Boehly clearly knows nothing about or why else would he have appointed Potter at a time when Emery was available?”

Whether Emery was the correct person to be hired at the time or not, it was clear to see Potter wasn’t.
Reports that have emerged since he was sacked have suggested that he lacked the authority required to manage at a club like Chelsea.
The news that the team were seemingly going against his plan against Aston Villa only suggests whoever is next in the hotseat has a huge job on their hands turning round their attitudes.
