Journalist Matt Law has claimed that Roma have just increased their offer to sign Romelu Lukaku on loan this summer.

He took to Twitter to state that talks over a potential one-year deal are set to continue today, and Chelsea will avoid paying any of his wages during this spell.

The last few weeks have not really seen much development in the Lukaku situation at Stamford Bridge.

He is still absolutely nowhere near the first team, as Mauricio Pochettino has reiterated that he only wants players at the club who want to be there.

It seems as if Chelsea are beginning to accept that a permanent deal to see him leave is beginning to not look so obvious.

Their best bet was with Juventus, however the signing would only be possible if they took Dusan Vlahovic in exchange.

Roma up Lukaku offer

With them not interested in that prospect, they have been forced to look elsewhere in order to try and find a solution.

Yesterday it was claimed that Roma had made an offer to sign the Belgium international for this season, however the Blues wanted more money in order to allow him that move.

Now, Law has stated that they expect to receive this with the increased bid being made by the Serie A side.

He said: “More talks today regarding Lukaku’s loan move to Roma. Agreement between the clubs now close with Chelsea expected to take a loan fee of £8/9m.

“Roma also working on Lukaku’s wages which Chelsea will not contribute to so he will have to take a cut to about £7m a year. Optimism.”

A move to Rome would see him playing under former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who first made the decision to loan him out all those years ago.
