Leeds United believe that they got themselves an absolute bargain by signing Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea last summer.
Ethan Ampadu was on Chelsea’s books between 2017-23, playing only 12 first-team games for the Blues.
However, the Wales international built up his reputation by performing for his country and across several different loan spells.
Leeds coughed up an initial £7million transfer fee (Evening Standard) last summer to sign Ampadu on a permanent basis from Chelsea.
It’s looking more and more like a superb piece of business from the Championship club with every day.

The Athletic has claimed that Leeds now feel like they got a “really good deal” with the Ampadu signing.
We’d have to agree with them, too!
Ampadu’s started every game this season for a Leeds side that are desperately trying to get out of the Championship at the first attempt, but they’re heading the dreaded play-offs this season at this rate.
The versatile 23-year-old star has slotted straight into the Leeds line-up as a defensive midfielder. We’ve seen throughout his career he can play centre-back, too.
Ethan Ampadu was a bargain
It was hard to see a route for Ampadu into Chelsea’s XI this campaign, but we’re not sure there’s much difference when you compared him to Blues fringe player Lesley Ugochukwu.
We won’t be surprised to see Ampadu playing in the Premier League soon and performing to a high standard.
There’s been such a massive turnover of players at Stamford Bridge in the last 18 months that there’s going to be a mixture of good and bad transfers. For us. Ampadu may be one that we look back on as a player that deserved a chance under Mauricio Pochettino.
