Cole Palmer is proving during his second year at Chelsea that he’s not a one-season wonder.

The 2023/24 campaign was a memorable one for Cole Palmer, where he shocked the footballing world with a ridiculously good debut season in Chelsea colours.

The attacker went from a Manchester City fringe player to a household name and England international during his meteoric rise. Incidentally, Jamie Carragher’s urged Thomas Tuchel to build England’s side around Chelsea’s Palmer and Jude Bellingham moving forward.

It’s been superb to see the 22-year-old Blues playmaker follow it up in the first half of this season, which he’s done despite the change of management that saw Enzo Maresca replace Mauricio Pochettino.

In 20 Premier League games so far this season, Palmer’s scored 13 goals and created six assists.

Cole Palmer miles clear in Premier League statistic

Palmer usually comes out shining on both the eye test and the statistical data. Interestingly, the Chelsea star has been the best in the Premier League at one thing so far this season by quite a distance.

WhoScored has shared that Palmer has made the most key passes (57) in the division. It’s remarkable that Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski is in second-place, yet he’s still way behind (47).

Even when the Blues talisman isn’t scoring, it’s quite often that he’s creating for his teammates in the final third.

Like all elite attackers, Palmer is posting the type of high attacking output which he’s regularly judged by. Blues supporters know that the magician is so much more than that because he’s capable of special things on the football pitch.

Maresca highlighted that opposition teams man-mark Chelsea’s Palmer because of his reputation, which is something that he’s adapting well to this season.

Cole Palmer has answered Darren Bent question emphatically

Like many pundits, Darren Bent questioned if Chelsea’s Palmer could back up his debut season with another great year. Speaking back in August, Bent said: “His last season was incredible, but can he back it up? This season will be harder than last season because everyone will know how good he is.”

It’s fair to say that the Blues ace has responded in emphatic fashion.

If Palmer can hit the 20-goal mark in back-to-back seasons, it’ll be an incredible achievement and clear sign of just how good he really is. As it stands, he’s in the conversation alongside the Premier League’s very best individuals.
