It’s been a pretty common theme during Cole Palmer’s time at Chelsea that he’s been smashing records out of the park on a frequent basis.
The outstanding individual in this current Chelsea squad is quite clearly Cole Palmer. If people were concerned that last year’s debut season with the Blues was a one-off, the 22-year-old attacker has quickly crushed that with his recent form.
Yet again, the England international has been tormenting defences in the Premier League. He’s currently got seven goals and five assists in his opening nine league appearances this campaign.
Palmer recently tied a Frank Lampard record at Chelsea by scoring four goals against Brighton last month. As a result, Palmer and Lampard are the only two Blues stars in history to score four goals in two different Premier League games.

Cole Palmer could become first Chelsea player to win the Premier League’s Player of the Month consecutively
In the history of the Premier League’s Player of the Month award, no Chelsea player has ever won the prize in back-to-back months. However, Palmer now has the chance to rewrite history.
The Premier League’s official X account confirmed on Thursday that Chelsea’s Palmer is one of eight nominees for October’s Player of the Month.
Palmer has previously won the individual award twice before (April 2024 & September 2024). Let’s now see if he can wrap up the prize in back-to-back months to create a bit of history.
Tim Sherwood thinks Chelsea’s Palmer is becoming ‘world-class’, and we’re now seeing him get widespread praise from the football community for his impact on the pitch.
How good was Cole Palmer in October?
Chelsea have played just the three games in the Premier League this month. In return, they’ve collected four points from fixtures against Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Palmer, who’s an ever-present in the league XI, scored one goal and created one assist in October. He netted the match-winning goal last weekend versus Newcastle, plus assisted Noni Madueke’s equaliser against Forest.
Here is a look at how Sofascore rated Palmer’s performances for October:
| Fixture | Date | Match rating |
| Chelsea 2-1 Newcastle | 27 October | 7.8 |
| Liverpool 2-1 Chelsea | 20 October | 6.6 |
| Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest | 6 October | 8.8 |
It was another set of games for Palmer where he showed his individual ability, although he was unable to shine against Liverpool. Gianfranco Zola thinks Chelsea ace Palmer can become quicker and stronger, so there’s definitely still room for the youngster to improve.
In fairness, Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood may be unfortunate if he doesn’t win the Premier League’s October prize after four goals in three games this month, which helped his side pick up two wins and a draw.
