Cole Palmer is adding a brilliant strike to his goal catalogue for Chelsea pretty much every time he takes to the pitch at the minute.

The England international sits on seven goals this season, only topped at this stage by Erling Haaland and Bryan Mbuemo.

Palmer wowed pundits with his performance against Newcastle at the weekend, scoring the second after playing a glorious pass to launch the opener.

Chelsea fans were not happy their star man finished 25th in the Ballon d’Or. It can already be thought that he will place much higher next year if he continues with how he is currently playing for both club and country.

Cole Palmer’s favourite Chelsea goal against either Everton or Brighton

Of all the goals he has scored, Palmer previously said his goal against his goal against Manchester United last season was his favourite since joining the club.

It looks as if that answer has now changed, with him now unable to choose from two different goals at Stamford Bridge.

He said: “Everton at home or my free-kick against Brighton.”

He is almost certainly referring to the goal that saw him make it a first half hat-trick against Everton last season, as he lobbed Jordan Pickford with his weak foot from close to 40 yards.

Manchester United to have new manager for Chelsea game

Both goals actually saw him clinch opening 45 hat-tricks, and are up there for arguably his best performances for the club since joining.

Chelsea fans will be hoping for more of the same when he is likely to next be in the starting side against United at the weekend.

The Blues’ trip to Old Trafford just got a lot more difficult after the sacking of Erik ten Hag earlier this week.

It is expected that Ruben Amorim will be opposite Enzo Maresca in the dugout on Sunday, and will no doubt be keen to get the Old Trafford crowd pumping for his first game in charge.
