Pundit Chris Sutton has claimed that he was not impressed by what he saw from Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk in the second half against Arsenal.
He told ‘It’s All Kicking Off’ that the celebration he produced after doubling the Blues’ lead was not appropriate based on the goal he had scored.
The narrative surrounding Mudryk’s second goal for the club on Saturday is whether there was any argument to suggest he meant to do what happened.
After looking up twice, his left footed ball towards the goal looped over David Raya, sending Chelsea fans wild all over Stamford Bridge.
He celebrated this goal with a notion not too dissimilar to the now iconic celebration used by Jude Bellingham when he scores for both Real Madrid and England.
As he soaked up the applause, Sutton couldn’t help but be annoyed that he had celebrated what he thought was a fluke goal in this way.
He said: “I don’t think you should be allowed to celebrate a goal if you don’t mean it. I know he was happy but he also celebrated like he meant it. That was, come on!
“Not like the big arms out! You should walk back with embarrassment if you are meaning to cross it!”
Whether he meant his goal or not, it could well go down as the bit of luck he has deserved since he arrived in West London.
Even this season, he has put in a lot of positive performances that have not really rewarded him with goals or assists.
However, two strikes in consecutive starts now for the Ukraine international may suggest that things have taken a turn for him, and this could benefit Chelsea in the long run.
