Mykhailo Mudryk put in a really complete performance for Chelsea in yesterday’s match against Arsenal.
Chelsea and Arsenal played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in the Premier League, but it’s the hosts who will be more disappointed with the result.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side played some excellent football and went into a two-goal lead. Unfortunately, the Blues switched off for the final 15 minutes as Arsenal equalised with two goals.
Perhaps the gap between Chelsea and the league’s top teams may not be as big as some people first suspected.
Mykhailo Mudryk on the up
Chelsea attacker Mykhailo Mudryk, 22, definitely sent out a statement on his return to Chelsea’s starting XI against Arsenal.
The left-winger earned the spot-kick which Cole Palmer dispatched from the penalty spot. He then got on the scoresheet himself when his suspected cross looped into the net over goalkeeper David Raya.
It’s been an underwhelming start for the Ukraine international since his move to England at the turn of the year, but he’s now scored two goals in his previous three league games for Chelsea.
Hopefully, the speedster can continue to ride this wave and start to cement his spot in the line-up.
His game is still improving and he’s far from the finished article. He brings an energy and rawness that lights up the crowd when he’s on the pitch, though.
TEAMtalk recently reported that people close to Mudryk believe he’s a ‘sleeping superstar’ in the Chelsea squad.
Chelsea fans spot the same thing
A selection of Chelsea fans on social media really enjoyed Mudryk’s weekend display versus Arsenal.
In particular, the Blues supporters noticed that the 22-year-old was excellent with his defensive work off the ball.
The young wide man certainly carried out his defensive duties against Arsenal, getting back into shape to help his left-back Marc Cucurella. That left-hand side consisted of two players used to criticism since moving to Stamford Bridge, so they deserve just as much attention when they perform well.
