Darren Bent has shared his reservations about the striker target strongly linked with Chelsea in the transfer rumour mill.
The Blues appear to be in the market this summer for a new centre-forward amid links to various different profiles.
It’s been claimed that Chelsea plan to sign a new striker and believe they have the funds to make a ‘major acquisition’ at the top end of the pitch.
At the moment, Nicolas Jackson is the first-choice striker at Stamford Bridge, scoring 10 goals in 30 games across all competitions this season. Let’s wait and see if the club manages to find an upgrade in the upcoming transfer window, though.

Darren Bent not convinced Liam Delap and Chelsea would be the right fit
Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, 22, has been frequently linked in recent months with a potential move to West London.
Apparently, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is pushing to sign Liam Delap ahead of next season.
According to former Premier League striker Darren Bent, Delap may be wiser joining a mid-table club in the Premier League rather than making the sizeable leap to Chelsea.
The talkSPORT pundit does think the Blues can find an upgrade for Jackson to lead the line, but isn’t certain that Delap is that individual quite yet.
Bent told talkSPORT: “I think Nicolas Jackson, they need competition for him, but also I think they need, this is no disrespect, better than him. The problem is, where do you find that better? Because it feels like there’s about 10 teams looking for a centre-forward.
“I think Liam Delap would push him, but again, that’s another risk because he’s got all the potential. When you’re looking at Liam Delap, who’s been brilliant for Ipswich this year, you are buying potential still. I almost feel like there should be a middle ground somewhere. Going from Ipswich all the way to Chelsea and competing for the number nine… Establish yourself and then go again.
“I think Jackson’s decent, but I certainly think Chelsea could find better.”
Chelsea are favourites to sign Liam Delap in the summer, so we may find out sooner rather than later whether he’s good enough.
Even though the English centre-forward has played this season for an Ipswich side relegated from the Premier League with time to spare, he’s definitely stood out as one of their shining lights. Is he ready to start in attack for one England’s major clubs, though?

Victor Osimhen would be a great answer
If Chelsea want a proven goalscorer to hit the ground running next season, Victor Osimhen would be the ideal signing. We suspect that Jackson would learn a lot from him, too.
Napoli-owned striker Osimhen, who’s currently enjoying a superb loan spell with Galatasaray, has been one of the most consistent goalscorers around in recent years.
| Club | Appearances | Goals |
| Napoli | 133 | 76 |
| Lille | 38 | 18 |
| Galatasaray | 36 | 31 |
| Royal Charleroi | 36 | 20 |
| Wolfsburg | 16 | 0 |
It’s been reported that Victor Osimhen wants to play for Chelsea next season, and the Blues are willing to reignite their interest after wanting him last summer.
Without a doubt, Osimhen would be a much less risky signing compared to Delap.
