In Moises Caicedo, Chelsea have one of the most in-form midfielders across the Premier League division right now.
There’s several players in the Chelsea squad this season impressing with their individual displays, but Moises Caicedo is near the top of the list for best performers.
So far, the 22-year-old star has been covering every blade of grass on the pitch as a box-to-box No.8 midfielder, especially since Romeo Lavia started playing next to him. As a result, Enzo Fernandez has dropped out of the Blues starting line-up.
Chelsea insiders believe Enzo Maresca views Caicedo as undroppable from the starting XI, which is fully justified based on this campaign.

Darren Bent picks between Moises Caicedo and Ryan Gravenberch
While Caicedo has been flourishing at Chelsea this season, Ryan Gravenberch has equally been super impressive for Liverpool as their deep-lying midfielder. He’s been an ever-present for an Arne Slot side that is top of the league table after 10 games.
Interestingly, Darren Bent thinks Gravenberch is actually enjoying a slightly better season than Caicedo right now.
Bent told talkSPORT: “I’m a big Caicedo fan. He got off to a slow start… If you’re talking about right now, he’s not better than Gravenberch. I’ll give you him over Declan [Rice] right now, but not Gravenberch he’s been incredible.”
John Obi Mikel thinks Caicedo is the first name on the team sheet at Chelsea right now because his form has been so great.
He’s had huge criticism at times as a Blues player following his £115m transfer move from Brighton last summer, but everyone is now starting to see why the club made such a huge investment.
Moises Caicedo vs Ryan Gravenberch
With Ballon d’Or winner Rodri currently absent for Manchester City because of a long-term injury, the Premier League’s crown for the best midfielder may be up for grabs.
Premier League pundit Adrian Clarke thinks Chelsea’s Caicedo is currently the best midfielder in the country. However, how does he statistically compare to Liverpool’s Gravenberch this season?
| Player | Matches played | Starts | Goals | Assists | Passes completed | Pass completion % | Tackles won | Interceptions |
| Moises Caicedo | 10 | 10 | 2 | 1 | 467 | 87.1% | 22 | 17 |
| Ryan Gravenberch | 10 | 10 | 0 | 0 | 537 | 88.8% | 13 | 17 |
Regardless of which one is better, there’s no doubt that both are absolutely instrumental to their respective teams in this moment.
