Cole Palmer has now shared what he thinks Mauricio Pochettino has done this season that has made him a better player at Chelsea.

The 21-year-old told the club website that he feels the manager’s personal approach to coaching has been a real boost to him on the pitch.

Palmer has been arguably Chelsea’s best player this season, despite it being his first real campaign where he has been a first team regular.

He sits as the club’s top scorer for the campaign, taking responsibility with penalties on a number of occasions.

He has now put a lot of his success down to Pochettino, saying he loves the approach the Argentine takes to coaching.

Palmer on Pochettino

He said: “I’ve definitely improved as a player coming here. I just felt [in the summer] like I was ready to play football week in, week out and that’s what I’m doing here at Chelsea.

“The manager has definitely helped me, he’s a top manager and a top person. He speaks to you about anything, like family issues. I think if he knows what’s going on off the pitch, it can affect how he is with you on the pitch. He’s really great at that.

“He’s given me the freedom to play my stuff and I like it when he frees you because I feel I can express myself on the pitch more.

“I’m loving it. Every day he’s talking to you about different things, not just football things but just life generally as well. He’s great at making you feel good and he’s always trying to get the best out of you.”

There have been reports that there has been discontent over Pochettino at the helm, with a divide on the board over what is best to do next.

Some have reportedly begun looking elsewhere for new managers, with the likes of Roberto De Zerbi and Ruben Amorim being mentioned as potential candidates.

The Blues will be well aware though that they will face steep competition for a number of their top candidates, with a host of top jobs available at the end of the season.

Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are all looking for a new manager to take over for next season, however the latter seem to be set on bringing in Xabi Alonso following his amazing campaign so far.
