TalkSPORT’s Ally McCoist has claimed Wilfried Zaha may struggle to adapt to Chelsea’s playstyle if the Blues bring him in this summer.

The Crystal Palace man has emerged as a late candidate for an attacking signing for the Blues, who have until late tomorrow night to finish their business for this summer.

They have already added Raheem Sterling to their ranks up top, although have lost Timo Werner, Romelu Lukaku and Callum Hudson-Odoi on varying deals.

This, combined with the unhappy pair of Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech has left the Blues scrambling for options already this season, with Mason Mount and Kai Havertz hardly setting the world alight either.

This has led to them registering an interest in Zaha, although McCoist has questions over how good he’ll be in a team the level of Chelsea.

McCoist questions Zaha at Chelsea

He said: “Would Zaha be as effective in that Chelsea team, when the opposition have got more men behind the ball? Normally, he’s allowed a little bit of freedom in that Crystal Palace team. I watched him at Anfield, and obviously Liverpool leave spaces. He loved it.

“But when he’s playing for Chelsea against some of the teams he maybe won’t have that space. He’s an excellent player, but I’m just wondering would it be a bit different for him playing in a team that has more of the ball.”

Zaha has enjoyed a stellar start to the season, scoring four goals already in just five games. This number is just a couple short of Chelsea’s tally for the entire campaign.

Being trusted with more responsibility could still see Zaha reach the next level, and his frustration at Palace dropping points in last night’s games only shows his attitude and desire to win at the highest level.
