Reports suggest that Christian Pulisic has been informed he will be used as a substitute at Chelsea this season.
According to ESPN, the United States international was told in a meeting with the club that he wouldn’t be allowed to leave this summer, and instead would be required for depth as the fixtures begin to pile up.
The club have already permanently sold Timo Werner back to RB Leipzig, and Callum Hudson-Odoi has also made a move to the Bundesliga on a temporary basis.

There are also rumours linking Hakim Ziyech with a return to Ajax, with the Dutch champions having just sold Antony to Manchester United.
This has reportedly left Pulisic stuck at Stamford Bridge for the time being, with ESPN claiming while he is offered the chance to break into the starting line-up, he will likely be utilised as an impact player.

This will no doubt have frustrated the 23-year-old, who was reportedly so keen to move away this summer that he would’ve signed a new deal with the club in order to get some gametime away from the club.
There was interest from both the Premier League and abroad for his services, with Manchester United launching a shock move for him last week.

However, the American should feel confident that he can break into the Blues’ first team, with the current forwards hardly setting the world alight so far this season.
Other than Raheem Sterling, no forward has found the net or assisted so far this campaign, despite being offered the opportunity to start as part of a trusted trio.
Other forwards are still on the agenda for the Blues in the coming days, with them linked for moves for the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Anthony Gordon, as well as a potential deal for Wilfried Zaha.
