Steven Gerrard was left disappointed by the performance of Fikayo Tomori in the Champions League last night.
He told BT Sport that he doesn’t think the former Chelsea defender stepped up to the plate on the big stage at the San Siro last night.
It was a tough night for Tomori, as AC Milan were left on the brink of elimination following a 2-0 defeat to Inter Milan in the first leg of the semi-final.

He was notably struggling up against strikers Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez, despite them not traditionally being considered as the elite in Europe.
The Englishman has been receiving plenty of praise across the game after making the move from Stamford Bridge, notably winning Serie A last season.
Games on the big stage have often led to struggles though, and this includes when he was sent off against Chelsea earlier this season.
Gerrard not impressed by Tomori
Gerrard has claimed that his performance will have also done his international prospects no favours at all.
He said: “Rio, I was just wondering what your thoughts were on the two centre-backs for AC Milan. We obviously gave the big build up to Tomori tonight, all eyes would have been on him. I’m sure Gareth Southgate would have been watching him.

“What was your opinion on his performance? We were slightly disappointed. We wanted him to perform and really step forward tonight and take the opportunity but we think he struggled tonight.”
There was originally a lot of distain around the sale of the 25-year-old in West London, however the future prospects in the position at the club should leave them optimistic.
They have Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile in their ranks, and will have Levi Colwill to join them from the end of the season onwards.
