Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino could not help but express his delight with Malo Gusto in his pre-match press conference earlier today.
Mauricio Pochettino spoke to football.london and the rest of the English media ahead of the first leg of Chelsea‘s Carabao Cup semi-final tie against Middlesbrough tomorrow.
In his press conference, the Argentine was quick to mention how happy he is with Malo Gusto at the moment.
The 20-year-old, who cost Chelsea £30.7m when he joined the club from Lyon (BBC Sport), has come into the team following Reece James’ hamstring injury.
Mauricio Pochettino happy with Malo Gusto
Pochettino has praised Gusto for his maturity and performing in the absence of his captain.
On the Frenchman, the Chelsea boss said: “It is a player that is so young. Looks more mature than he is. He came from a difficult situation at Lyon and came here to adapt to a new country, new football. He is doing well. I am so happy with him.
“Always with a young kid, some mindset is different, we need to agree, time to realise. We talk about young kids also from England, but him that came from France it’s to adapt and improve. I am so happy that he can perform when Reece is out. It’s a good contribution for the team.”

Mauricio Pochettino should be happy with Malo Gusto
Gusto has certainly done a good job following James’ injury, playing at both right-back and left-back for his side.
Honestly, he has been practically flawless of late, so it is no surprise that Pochettino is delighted with him right now.
For £30m, signing the France international is proving to be very smart business, especially with James struggling to stay fit.
Being so young as well, Gusto obviously has time on his side, too. The former Lyon man can develop into an even better footballer and hopefully that happens at Stamford Bridge.
If Gusto maintains the form he is in, it will be interesting to see what happens once James returns, though that will not be for a while after the player’s operation.
