Emmanuel Emegha is one of five new signings set to arrive at Chelsea this summer, and after a fraught ending to his Strasbourg spell, Emegha has now said goodbye on Instagram.

The summer transfer window is fast approaching, and Chelsea are expected to be incredibly busy in the coming months, with manager Xabi Alonso set to take office on July 1. He inherits an enormous squad.

Alongside five incoming signings like Emegha and his Strasbourg teammate Valentin Barco, Chelsea will have a heap of loan players returning. Kendry Paez is among those with his River Plate loan cancelled.

Plenty of decisions to make for Alonso when he welcomes back his Chelsea squad. A decision will need to be made up front too, with Nicolas Jackson returning, Emegha joining and Liam Delap still at the club.

‘No fake words’ as Emegha posts farewell to Strasbourg

Emegha is just the latest in a long line of players moving from Strasbourg to Chelsea, with Argentina star Barco also expected to make the switch. Barco has already bid farewell to Strasbourg’s supporters.

It has been a difficult 12 months for Emegha. The Netherlands international scored 14 goals in 29 games during 2024-25, but was limited to just 18 outings last season after picking up a long-term knee injury.

Nevertheless, Emegha will join Chelsea this summer and has put pen to paper on a contract until the summer of 2033. The striker has now posted a slightly blunt statement to Strasbourg fans on Instagram.

“Thank you Strasbourg. No fake words, no long speech. Just appreciation for everyone who supported me during these last 3 seasons. I met amazing people here, created memories for life,” Emegha posted.

“I shared a dressing room with brothers. Football takes you to different places, but some clubs stay with you forever. Wishing the club and the people of Strasbourg all the best,” the striker continued in his post.

Emegha angered Strasbourg supporters ahead of Chelsea exit

After defeat to Rayo Vallecano in the Europa League semi-finals, Emegha tried to calm down Strasbourg’s frustrated fans, but it completely backfired, with the supporters quick to blame the Chelsea-bound ace.

The issue Emegha now has is that he might not even get a game at Chelsea. Certainly, he will do well to be second choice at Chelsea with Joao Pedro the club’s undoubted first-choice striker ahead of 26-27.

Crystal Palace have been linked with a move for Emegha, which could mean the striker leaves Chelsea without playing a single game. One thing is for sure, his antics at Strasbourg have not impressed fans.
