Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez is really enjoying playing alongside one of his teammates right now.

Enzo Fernandez has spent most of the season lining up next to Moises Caicedo in the middle of the park, and the Argentine has now told ESPN that it is an honour to be in the same side as him.

Chelsea supporters have probably not seen the best of this midfield duo yet. They have actually come in for a bit of criticism this season, with one pundit claiming that he just cannot see the pair scoring any goals for the Blues.

Being midfielders, though, Chelsea did not buy Fernandez and Caicedo to do that, though it would obviously be nice if they could.

Enzo Fernandez talks relationship with Moises Caicedo

Fernandez says he has developed a strong bond with Caicedo and that it is an honour to play alongside him at Chelsea.

On the Ecuadorian, the World Cup winner said: “With Moi we have generated a very good bond, we have a great relationship outside the field. When it comes to playing, communication is different, we know that with a glance we understand each other. It is an honour to play with Caicedo. He brings us a lot.”

Chelsea’s midfield for the next decade?

Fernandez is 23 and Caicedo is only a year younger than his teammate, while Chelsea spent over £100m on each player.

Simply put, the two South Americans are going to be at Stamford Bridge for a very long time.

Hopefully they get to see much better days in west London. This season has been a poor one for the two and the club.

Chelsea are ninth in the Premier League, far from the Champions League spots. The Blues at least still have the chance to win the Carabao Cup, though they have to turn around a 1-0 deficit after their defeat to Middlesbrough in the first leg of their semi-final tie.
