Enzo Maresca absolutely loves him – Chelsea’s best signing of 2024

After not touching the transfer market back in January, Chelsea were busy over the summer as they looked to give the best backing to their new man in charge.

Enzo Maresca was handed his first Premier League job by the Blues, however the risk has certainly paid off in the first part of this season.

Maresca is insistent they are not in a title race this season, however approach 2025 second in the table and impressing greatly.

Chelsea made plenty of permanent signings to prepare their squad for any challenge, including games in the Conference League.

Their final signing on deadline day was the addition of Jadon Sancho, who joined on loan with an obligation to buy should the Blues finish above 14th in the Premier League.

That is now essentially a certainty, and one person who will be delighted to be permanently adding Sancho to the ranks is Maresca.

The boss was quick to wax lyrical about Sancho when he joined the club, and has seen his faith repaid with some brilliant performances on the left-wing.

With Mykhailo Mudryk currently unavailable for selection, there is a lot of impotence on the England international to provide the goods, and the impact he has had for the price Chelsea are set to pay is tremendous.

There have been a number of impressive signings make their mark for Chelsea this season.

Pedro Neto has been very impactful on both wings, while Joao Felix has been threatening to make a real impact on the Premier League side in recent weeks.

However, Sancho has shown that wingers don’t just need electric pace to beat their man, and can be an extra creative asset in attack.

The winger will be hoping that his impressive form can see him return to the conversation for a place in the England squad when Thomas Tuchel takes over the manager’s job in the new year.
