Chelsea’s first-team player has reportedly caught the attention of Enzo Maresca for all the right reasons so far.
Blues head coach Enzo Maresca, 44, is nearly a few months into his reign in the dugout. It’s certainly been a busy start for him in west London, too.
The Chelsea squad looks absolutely stacked with talent this season, so seven points from the opening four Premier League games represents a modest start. They secured a 1-0 away win at Bournemouth on the weekend to help build some momentum.
ESPN reports that Maresca has a soft target of getting Chelsea back in the top four, but it’s still far too early to see if this will be achievable.

Levi Colwill is impressing at Chelsea
According to GiveMeSport, Maresca has been super impressed by what he’s seen from Chelsea’s Levi Colwill so far.
It is explained that Colwill has become ‘the most consistent trainer’ at Cobham and his work rate behind the scenes is appreciated by the new manager.
The report says that the 21-year-old defender is the most consistent performer in training, which has helped him build a personal relationship with Maresca already. It helped that he was given assurances he would be playing this season in his preferred position at centre-back rather than covering at full-back.
Colwill has played every minute so far in the league for Chelsea, staking his claim as a key centre-half for the club.
The England international is making a big impression on the pitch in recent weeks with his commanding performances, so it’s great to hear his hard work off of it is paying off.
Speaking via Sky Sports Premier League last season, Jamie Redknapp claimed Colwill’s passing is “exceptional” for a defender. It’s one of the reasons why he’s emerging as a main figure in Maresca’s XI.

Key players under Enzo Maresca
There’s already a pattern emerging at Chelsea regarding the individuals that are pivotal to what Maresca is trying to build.
Interestingly, Colwill is one of seven Blues stars to start every league match so far. He’s joined by Robert Sanchez, Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella, Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson in this club.
It felt like there was a lot of changing to the Chelsea XI last season under Mauricio Pochettino, so it’s making a nice difference to see a bit of consistency in team selection.
