Enzo Maresca will surely love nothing better than to hit the ground running at Chelsea, which will make his job a lot easier to transition into.

The Blues appointed Italian boss Enzo Maresca, 44, as their new head coach this summer. He was snapped up after guiding Leicester City to the Championship title and promotion last season.

It’s been reported by BBC Sport this week that Chelsea’s players are optimistic about life under Maresca, despite just one win in five friendly matches so far this summer.

Incidentally, Chelsea officially begin their 2024/25 campaign in eight days time when they host defending champions Manchester City in the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca knowledge has impressed Chelsea group

According to The Daily Mail, Maresca has impressed Chelsea’s players with his ‘encyclopaedic knowledge’ of moments from their games last season.

It is understood that the Blues manager spent part of his holiday this summer watching back all of Chelsea’s 38 Premier League matches from the 2023/24 campaign.

There’s no doubt that this is the sort of thing that will excite the fanbase. Ultimately, he’ll really get the Stamford Bridge faithful behind him if the team starts strongly in the new season.

As for the Blues dressing room, it’s important they buy into what Maresca wants from day one. If they do, there’s enough talent in the squad for them to have a successful year together.

Positive noise about Enzo Maresca

It’s not the first time in pre-season there’s been positive noise out of the Chelsea camp about the new individual in the manager’s dugout.

Speaking recently via Chelsea’s official website, Gary Cahill shared Maresca is “hands-on” in training sessions. The Blues legend has been super impressed by the Italian after watching some open training sessions this summer.

Meanwhile, journalist Guillem Balague reported via BBC Sport that Chelsea’s owners were impressed by Maresca’s club knowledge during his interview.
