Enzo Maresca has shared that one Chelsea player has already impressed him on the training pitches in the opening weeks of pre-season.
During his first press conference as Chelsea head coach, Enzo Maresca singled out a Blues star for high praise.
Maresca has now arrived in the United States with his squad to begin the pre-season tour, which kicks off on Thursday against Wrexham.
It’s going to be interesting to see how quickly the players have adapted to the new manager’s football philosophy after just two weeks on the training ground before arriving in the US. A recent report by London World says that Chelsea sources are excited by Maresca’s brand, and hope to see the ideas come through in the upcoming friendlies.

Enzo Maresca talks up Christopher Nkunku
According to the Chelsea boss, Christopher Nkunku has caught the eye so far during pre-season.
Apparently, the £195,000-a-week attacker (Spotrac) is adapting well to the new style and a big strength is he’s extremely versatile.
When asked where can we expect to see Nkunku play under him, Maresca said via Football.London: “He can play everywhere.
“He’s one of the players in these two weeks who is doing very, very well. He is taking the way we want to play. We will try to have players who can play in different positions [in attack].”
Christopher Nkunku will feel like a new signing
Nkunku played just 14 times for Chelsea last year during an injury-hit first season at the club. Therefore, he could really feel like a new signing this summer if he hits the ground running.
It’s great news to hear the Frenchman is already impressing Maresca because he’s got the quality to make a huge impact in the Blues line-up, whether that’s as a striker, No 10 or a winger.
He scored 70 goals in 172 matches for former club RB Leipzig before joining Chelsea, so he’s definitely capable of adding extra attacking firepower.
The Telegraph recently claimed that Chelsea think Nkunku can feature as a false nine, replicating what Gabriel Jesus used to do at Manchester City. There’s not long to go until supporters get to see in these warm-up matches where he plays on the pitch.
