Aaron Anselmino is currently adapting to life in a new country after Chelsea decided to recall him early from Boca Juniors in the New Year.
Chelsea signed Aaron Anselmino, 19, from Boca Juniors last summer before sending him straight back there on loan. However, he’s now in England after joining up with his Blues teammates at Cobham this month.
The teenage defender is preparing for his first-ever taste of European football after leaving his native Argentina. Juan Roman Riquelme is a massive fan of Chelsea’s Anselmino because he’s confidently predicted that he’ll reach the top.
How long will Blues supporters need to wait before watching him in action for the first time, though?

Enzo Maresca gives Aaron Anselmino update ahead of Morecambe
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has been speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup tie at home to League Two club Morecambe.
He’s confirmed via the club’s official YouTube channel that Blues youngster Anselmino won’t be making his club debut on Saturday. Instead, the 19-year-old centre-back is still being given plenty of time to adapt to his new surroundings.
When asked if Anselmino could be involved for Chelsea this weekend, Maresca said: “No, it is still too early. The plan for him is to put him in condition to get some minutes in the future, not now,. He had some injuries when he was there (Boca Juniors). Now it’s important to arrive here and adapt to English weather, English football and then from there we start to use him.”
Maresca insisted Anselmino would get time at Chelsea to settle into the club. Well, it looks like he meant it because the youngster’s not involved against Morecambe, even though it feels like a great opportunity to give him a taste of things.
Even though Wesley Fofana is out injured, the Blues do still have several defensive options to call upon.
Will Josh Acheampong play again?
It’s going to be interesting to see if Chelsea youngster Josh Acheampong, 18, starts again in the upcoming FA Cup tie with Morecambe.
Acheampong started at centre-back in last weekend’s Premier League draw at Crystal Palace, where he seriously impressed and justified his promotion to the first-team squad. If he’s left out against Morecambe, it could be a sign that he’s in line for league minutes next week.
Chelsea play Bournemouth just a few days later next Tuesday in the league, so keep an eye on which centre-halves are rested this weekend.
Chelsea think Acheampong is a ‘world-class prospect’, so it feels like 2025 could be a big year for him.
