There has been some positive news regarding the contract situation of one of Chelsea’s most promising young players.
The club have confirmed that Josh Acheampong has signed a new deal with the Blues, after spending a number of weeks frozen out from all duties.
Acheampong was hesitant on signing a new contract, and his exclusion from the club had sparked the interest of a number of elite sides in Europe.
The likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool were interested in signing the Chelsea youngster, while Bayern Munich were prepared to offer Acheampong first team minutes immediately.

However, the defender has slowly been reintroduced into the first team setup, getting his first start for the club in the Conference League against Astana.
Now his future his secured, there is a lot of talk over what is coming next for the Cobham graduate, with Enzo Maresca being asked about just that.
In his pre-match press conference for the game against Shamrock Rovers tomorrow, the boss said he would prefer if he remained with Chelsea rather than going out on loan.
He said: “We are all convinced that Josh can be a great player for this club. My personal opinion is that he needs to stay close with us.”
Acheampong set for Premier League minutes soon
It has been claimed that Maresca was key to convincing Acheampong that he should sign a new contract with the Blues, with it looking a genuine possibility that he would be on the move.
Reports have stated that Acheampong will be in line for Premier League minutes in the coming weeks, as the Blues enter a busy festive period.
Chelsea are undergoing somewhat of an injury crisis at the back right now, with Reece James, Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile all out.
While Malo Gusto is likely to start for now, the opportunity is clear for Acheampong to be given his chance to impress at the highest level.
