Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has explained that one first-team player is always the first in training sessions with a football at his feet.

So far, Enzo Maresca should be pretty content with how he’s started life as the Chelsea manager.

The Italian boss certainly had plenty of doubters when he left Leicester City in the summer to take the reigns at Stamford Bridge, but he’s quickly stamped his authority in west London. It’s a testament to his impact that his side return after the international break sitting third in the Premier League table.

Enzo Maresca discusses Cole Palmer in training

Maresca has shared that Cole Palmer, 22, is always the first player in training sessions to be outside playing with the footballs.

When discussing Chelsea attacker Palmer, Maresca told TNT Sports: “He’s always the same humble guy, professional. Every time we start the session, he’s the first outside playing with the ball. He’s like a kid. He loves to play football.”

It’s no surprise to hear that the ball is glued to Palmer’s boot in training because he’s so expressive on the pitch when it comes around to a matchday.
