Enzo Maresca has no idea why his Chelsea side are being criticised for one thing this season

Things are all pretty positive regarding Chelsea at the moment, with them currently sitting third in the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca has stayed loyal to a number of his players in the Premier League, with some starting every single game they have been available for.

This has been the case for both centre-backs, who have established themselves as way ahead of the rest as far as the manager is concerned.

Maresca has not hidden his admiration for Wesley Fofana, while Levi Colwill has been named one of the most improved players of the season.

Enzo Maresca confused at criticism of Chelsea defence

There has been some criticism fired the way of the defenders for the goals they have conceded, however this is something that the boss simply doesn’t understand.

He told Football London: “We can attack better and we can defend better. In the Premier League there are only four or five clubs that have conceded less than us.

“If people think we’re not going to concede a goal, that’s PlayStation, not football. In the end, we are going to concede a goal. I don’t know why people are thinking we are defending bad.”

Chelsea’s defensive record Premier League 2024/25

Chelsea have conceded 13 goals so far this season, however when comparing it to the other top sides in the Premier League this really does not seem a lot.

There are always worries about when someone needs to come in to replace one of the starting duo. Tosin Adarabioyo struggled against Liverpool in one of his two Premier League starts this season.

Chelsea will be hoping to register a rare clean sheet in the Premier League this weekend when they take on Maresca’s former side, Leicester City.

It has been claimed Maresca will not be booed on his return to his former side, after helping them to promotion back to the top flight in his only season in charge there.
