Chelsea return to Premier League football this weekend with their first trip to a newly-promoted side of the campaign.

The trip to Leicester City will have been one of the first games Enzo Maresca was looking out for when, having made the move to the Blues from the King Power Stadium.

It has been predicted Maresca will not be booed when he returns, however the same fortunes will likely not meet former player Wesley Fofana.

The manager will have had a number of doubts creeping into his mind over his squad selection due to a variety of injuries suffered by his squad during the international break.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca impressed by Joao Felix

While everyone seems to have got through unscathed, there were some top performances that will no doubt have put some thought in the manager’s mind over who he should be selecting.

One of those was Joao Felix, who found the net for Portugal in their second game of the break. Maresca has said he was very impressed by the attacker and is weighing up how to feature him.

He said to Football London: “This could be a target for the future to see both of them [Palmer + Felix] to play together. Joao did fantastic [in the break], but Joao is doing fantastic with us since day one. For us, for all the clubs, it is a little bit of a doubt because we don’t know how they come back.”

Maresca didn’t really want to sign Felix

Felix is yet to start for Chelsea in the Premier League since returning to the club over the summer transfer window, with doubt creeping in over who actually was backing the £45m signing.

It was claimed Maresca wanted a defender instead of Felix, however has been using him well in cup competitions this season.

A pairing of Cole Palmer and Felix is likely to be brought out against opposition they expect to dominate possession against.

It remains to be seen though if Maresca believes the game against his former side is the one to unleash the Portugal international from the start for the first time in the league.
