ESPN pundit has urged former Chelsea player to reject Liverpool

Chelsea could soon see one of their former players make a return to the Premier League.

Last year, Chelsea sold a few of their players to clubs abroad. Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Edouard Mendy all left west London to play in different countries, for example.

Pulisic and Loftus-Cheek both moved to AC Milan, while Mendy joined Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ahli.

Chelsea could regret selling Pulisic, especially if he goes on to join one of their Premier League rivals next year.

Christian Pulisic told not to join Liverpool

After an impressive start to the season, Pulisic is now being linked with a move to Liverpool.

In eight appearances for Milan, the winger has scored five goals. With Liverpool being one of the biggest clubs in England, a switch to Anfield may appeal to him.

Former United States international Herculez Gomez, though, has urged Pulisic to stay put.

Discussing the Pulisic to Liverpool rumours on ESPN, Gomez said: “I like the fact that he has found a place where he’s thriving, I like the fact that he feels comfortable in a set-up and he is the man there and they think of him as a leader, they think of him as an important piece to that puzzle right there.

“So I don’t want want him going anywhere. I’ve finally found a Christian Pulisic that is doing well at the club level, and I do think these performances are going to translate at the international level, so I would like for him to stay.”

Pulisic reminded the Reds of what he can do after scoring against them in the Champions League last month. “Should have easily kept him,” one Chelsea fan said about Pulisic after watching his display versus Arne Slot’s side.

Would Christian Pulisic consider joining Chelsea’s rivals Liverpool?

Pulisic did not come through Chelsea’s academy and was not at the club for many years.

While the 26-year-old would have enjoyed some moments during his time at Stamford Bridge, winning the Champions League in 2021, it is unlikely that he has a deep connection with the club and its supporters.

Therefore, it would not be a shock if he ended up at Liverpool or another one of Chelsea’s rivals one day.

He is doing so well at Milan right now, though. The USA international may decide to stay there for another year or two before considering a move back to England.

It may be even longer than that if Pulisic can maintain his form and no one comes knocking. But if the former happens, then the latter is unlikely to.
