Don Hutchison has rated Chelsea’s chances of finishing in the Premier League’s top four spots this year.
It’s a strong Chelsea squad that Enzo Maresca has to work with this season, which is why supporters may have lofty ambitions for the group.
During a recent interview with Sky Sports, Moises Caicedo shared Chelsea’s target is to finish in the top four. As it stands, the Blues do sit fourth in the Premier League table during the international break with 14 points from the opening seven games.

Don Hutchinson rates where Chelsea may finish in the Premier League
It’s universally agreed in the football community that Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool are favourites to be the Premier League’s top three this campaign. However, there’s a fascinating cluster of clubs behind them all trying to get into the Champions League spots.
ESPN pundit Don Hutchison rates Chelsea as favourites to end up in the top four after an impressive start to the season.
When asked what percentage chance Chelsea have of finishing in the top four this season, Hutchinson told ESPN: “They’ve come out of nowhere because I had Newcastle fourth. I would probably make Chelsea favourites among the teams that are trying to get there. Man United have got zero chance…
“Let me go 40% Chelsea. 30% Aston Villa. The other two can split 15% each, Newcastle and Tottenham.”
Can Chelsea rediscover consistency?
In the 24 Premier League seasons during the 21st century, Chelsea have finished fourth or higher 17 times. There’s only seven occasions that the Blues have finished outside the top four, with two of them in the previous two years.
Hopefully, Maresca is the Chelsea manager that can help bring back the consistency that ensures the club is always competing around the top end of the division.
We think we’ll learn a lot more about the quality of this current side in their next four league matches immediately after the international break.
