Chelsea have had to deal with a number of injury concerns over the last few weeks that have certainly impacted their performances on the pitch.

The Blues recently lined up without both Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill, while Cole Palmer started the game against Wolves having hardly trained in the week leading up to it.

Defence has been impacted particularly badly in recent months. There are fears that Wesley Fofana could miss the majority of the campaign due to his most recent problem.

Benoit Badiashile could return from injury this month

While Reece James does look like he is getting back to full fitness, Benoit Badiashile has remained out of action since starting against Tottenham at the start of December.

The Frenchman’s absence has been felt hard, and forced the club to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace during the January transfer window.

Colwill has played the majority of minutes in the left centre-back role as a result of this, however his performances have been no means perfect. It was his error that was capitalised on for West Ham’s goal at Stamford Bridge last night.

It may not be long though before the Blues are able to welcome Badiashile back to first team duties.

According to the Evening Standard, the defender could return from his injury in February, meaning it could be just a few weeks until he is back on the pitch.

Despite limited appearances this season, the centre-back has impressed when playing. Jason Cundy described Badiashile as ‘excellent’ earlier this season.

Enzo Maresca a big fan of Benoit Badiashile

Despite the fact the club have been reportedly keen on selling Badiashile in one of the last two transfer windows, the manager seems to not be open to this prospect.

Enzo Maresca reportedly pushed to keep Badiashile before January began, even though there were reports they were looking at signing other defenders too.

Reports at the start of the January transfer window stated that they were intrigued at the prospect of signing Marc Guehi back, however Palace were unwilling to lose two centre-backs in the same window.
