Despite spending more than a billion pounds since the new ownership took over at Chelsea, all the signs point to them not being done yet.
Todd Boehly and co have facilitated a number of huge transfer windows, and have twice set the new club record for a transfer fee.
This has been to bring in Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in consecutive windows. Chiefs at the club are absolutely delighted by the progress of Caicedo.
One position where not a lot of money was spent over the recent transfer window is on the defence. Only Tosin Adarabioyo and Renato Veiga joined the existing group.
It looks as if that is about to change in 2025, and one of the players they are reportedly interested in is Tomas Araujo.

Chelsea ‘in love’ with Tomas Araujo
Fabrizio Romano has stated that the Blues have been monitoring the Benfica man for some time now, and are absolutely in love with him.
He said: “Another club really active on the centre-backs market. It’s less urgent so it’s not something imminent or something already happening now. Chelsea are actively monitoring the centre-back market. Let’s see if it’s going to be January, let’s see if it’s going to be summer.
“It’s not guaranteed it’s going to be January because in the last days of the summer transfer window, Chelsea were considering to bring in a new centre-back. For example, a player they are in love with is Tomas Araujo at Benfica.
“They were considering a move for him, but then nothing happened because Benfica were not selling an important player a few days before the end of the transfer window.
Now, I can confirm to you once again that they are monitoring the market. They are following players.”

Former teammate Jan Vertonghen said to CNN Portugal that he believes Araujo has everything needed to be one of the best defenders in world football.
The youngster has become a regular in the Benfica side, with them on a run of eight wins and a draw in their last nine league games.

Chelsea have started the same central defensive pairing for every game in the Premier League this season, with Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana the preferred duo.
There is plenty of excitement at the club right now over the pending addition of Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors, with him to join the Blues at the end of this season.
