While not everyone they hoped to move on left the club this summer, the Chelsea hierarchy will feel they did a decent job this summer.

A lot of the deadwood that Enzo Maresca was well-known to be dealing with have been shifted on, leaving him a far more streamlined first team squad to work with.

As has been typical with the Todd Boehly model at the club, they were not afraid to spend big on players for the future too.

They signed Estevao Willian for big money, with him set for his senior Brazil debut during this international break.

There have always been worries that this method of signing youngsters could see some talented stars slip through the net at Cobham, and this may well have happened with Rio Ngumoha.

Liverpool think Rio Ngumoha is a super talent

It has been reported Ngumoha did not see a path to the first team if he stayed at Chelsea, and he made the move over the summer to Liverpool.

Fabrizio Romano has stated that the Reds think they have added a supreme young talent to their ranks in this situation.

He said: “Liverpool are convinced they have signed a top, super talent for the future with Rio Ngumoha. Impressive proposal was made to reach the agreement after Rio left Chelsea academy.

“Liverpool see Rio as big talent for present and future, part of first team long term project.”

Chelsea hoping not to repeat Jamal Musiala mistake

Chelsea will no doubt be wary of some of the elite young talents they have seen slip through their fingers in recent years.

Jamal Musiala is a name often mentioned in this category, with him establishing himself as one of the better players in world football as a result.

There will be hopes this is not the situation repeating itself, although those at the club will point to the elite array of talent coming in from around the world as more than enough to stock them for years to come.
