Tim Sherwood has praised Todd Boehly for his latest decision at Chelsea as the Blues close in on Mauricio Pochettino.
The BBC reveal that Chelsea have now agreed personal terms with the Argentine ahead of his arrival at Stamford Bridge.
After hearing the news about Mauricio Pochettino‘s imminent move to Chelsea, Tim Sherwood shared his thoughts about Todd Boehly‘s decision live on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday.
What’s the story?
Well, the American has been criticised at times since he replaced Roman Abramovich at Stamford Bridge, mainly for his scattergun approach in the transfer market which has seen £600m spent on new signings in less than 12 months.
While Sherwood was critical of that chaotic approach to recruitment, he did praise Boehly for hiring Pochettino.

The 54-year-old said: “They spent £600m and the squad has got worse. There’s a huge clear out that needs to happen before they start bringing in new ones.
“He (Pochettino) should demand control. They’ve obviously got some good people in their recruitment team but they need to be guided to a structure of how the manager who’s coming into the club wants to play.
“Mauricio plays an attacking style of football, with a load of high energy. Everyone wants to watch it and I think he will get results. I think it’s a fantastic, fantastic appointment for Chelsea, someone who’s going to buy into that project.”
We couldn’t agree more.
Pochettino should know exactly how to sort Chelsea out
Many forget that Pochettino actually came into a similar situation at Tottenham back in 2014.
The South American arrived in N17 after Spurs were still trying to figure out their best team – much like Chelsea are doing now – after Andre Villas Boas oversaw a disjointed transfer window with the £85.3m Gareth Bale money.
Tottenham spent heavily on Erik Lamela, Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Christian Eriksen, Etienne Capoue, Vlad Chiriches and Nacer Chadli in the summer of 2013, all of whom struggled to settle.
However, when Pochettino arrived in 2014, he streamlined things, slowly integrating Eriksen and Lamela while also developing Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Kyle Walker into elite talents.
With gems like Mykhaylo Mudryk, Enzo Fernandez, Carney Chukwuemeka, Noni Madueke and also established world class stars at Stamford Bridge, there is plenty for Pochettino to work with.
