Former Chelsea star Mario Melchiot has now claimed he is actually feeling bad for one Chelsea player right now.

He told TalkSPORT that he feels sorry for Levi Colwill, as he is currently playing out of position for the Blues.

Colwill again started on the left of defence last night, as the Blues lined up against Crystal Palace in a London derby.

While they picked up all three points thanks to a late Noni Madueke goal, it was not plain sailing as far as the hosts were concerned.

The England defender again looked to struggle in what is very obviously an unnatural position for him to play in.

Melchiot has now claimed he is beginning to feel sorry for the 20-year-old for continuing to having to feature away from his natural role.

Melchiot feels sorry for Colwill

He said: “I felt sorry for Colwill because Olise is never a great guy to play against because he is so tricky, so skilful, he has the speed. And also the moment when he goes to attack the ball, he goes but I don’t know if he saw him, the ball gets flicked on and he scores but away from that.

“I said at the beginning of the season I wanted Colwill at Chelsea because I wanted him playing centre-back. Now they are playing him at left-back because they don’t have that at the moment because of the injuries and the sad part is that people are watching now and saying that he should have known that as a left-back, but that’s not really his natural position.”

There may now be an argument for him to return to the middle of defence after what happened last night.

Benoit Badiashile’s rough performance could see him again drop to the bench, with him still searching for his best form again at the back.
